This weekend I competed at a tournament called Copa Nova, in Virginia. I have competed in a lot of grappling tournaments and wrestling tournaments, and in all of them I have always had the mental block and taken second or third. It was like I got so nervous that i froze up and could not preform to the best of my ability. Since coming to my home, Top Flight MMA Academy, I began training with some of the best BJJ practitioners I have come to know. Such as Ron “the choir boy” Stallings(multiple grappling champion in grapplers quest, naga, and very acomplished mma fighter), Ron Seldon( multiple grapplers quest champion, naga champion, panams champion, abu dabi champion), Phil Proctor, Mike Weber, and many more. Before coming to Top Flight I had never been challenged mental, but when I started here my coaches did a very amazing job of understanding my mental block I was having, and began right away with not only putting me through THE BEST physical conditioning I have ever received, but also training me mentally, explaining how champions think. So this weekend I went out there with all the training i had received and thought like a champion. In the Gi competition i used all the techniques i have learned since being at Top Flight, and I took first place, and not one person scored a point on me. The feeling of finally winning first place was the best feeling ever, like a super hero. I felt like i was on top of the world, and i was proud to have represented the team. When the ref lined us(top 3 placers) up, he put the medals on the third place guy, then the second place guy, then he came over to me placed the medal on me and shook my hand, turned to everyone pointed to me and said loudly YOUR CHAMPION! An overwhelming feeling came over me and I was so proud, an I could not wait to tell my coach who helped me out because I knew he would be so proud. Coach Ron was very proud he knew my hard work had paid off.
